Not all chocolate has the superfood health benefits that you think . Dark chocolate is considered better for you than milk chocolate & white chocolate. It all comes down to the variants such as how much of the original cacao is left in the final product, the quality of the ingredients and additives used. While white chocolate is largely fats and sugars and the general consensus is to be believed, not chocolate at all. Dark chocolate usually contains between 35-100% cacao and less sugar which results in a more bitter taste. The higher the Cacao percentage the bigger the health benefits.

Cacao vs Cocoa. What's the difference? The answer is heat, processing and manufacturing. The magic of chocolate begins with the cacao beans that fruit from the cacao tree. At harvest, cacao beans are fermented to develop flavor and texture. To make cocoa powder the cacao beans are roasted at high temperatures. The end of this processing creates cocoa powder. When the cacao is processed into cocoa powder it ends up losing a lot of it's nutritional value and is usually packaged with dairy, sugar and other non nutritional additives. In order to get the nutritional benefits they say chocolate has you must source raw cacao and not cocoa, cocoa powders and cocoa liquors. Raw cacao nibs, raw cacao beans and cacao powder that has been roasted at low temperatures is the only way to go to get the full health benefits.
